Policy

The Independent Film & Television Alliance (“IFTA”) respects the privacy of your data. This includes the information of individuals who register for, attend, order, request or receive IFTA or AFM related services, activities and events, and the users of its web sites (“Sites”), which include: www.ifta-online.org, www.AmericanFilmMarket.com, www.TheFilmCatalogue.com, www.Locationexpo.com, www.afmOnDemand.com, and www.Myifta.org.

Information We may COLLECT

We may obtain information about you in various ways, such as through our activities, events, services and Sites, registration forms, written or oral consent either whether in person or electronically.  The type of information we collect includes:

  • contact information (such as name, postal and email address, telephone number, or photo);
  • login credentials to the Sites (if applicable); and
  • other personal information you affirmatively provide to us, such as through emails you send us or your business card.

We do not collect identifying information from users of the public areas of the Sites, except to the extent that information may be voluntarily provided by a user by sending IFTA an email in order to receive responses or services from IFTA.  As you browse the Sites, advertising “cookies” may be placed on your computer so that we can better understand your interests. This enables us to present you with retargeting advertising on other sites based on your previous interaction with the Sites.  If you choose to use the Sites without blocking or disabling cookies, you agree to our use of these cookies.  The cookies last up to one year, but if you do not agree to the use of these cookies, then you can block or disable them using your browser settings or you may opt out of such targeted advertising by visiting http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/. All information collected in any private area of the Sites shall be subject to the mutually agreed upon terms between IFTA and the user.

Information from Other Sources

We may receive information about you, including personal information, from third parties to which you have previously consented to provide information, and publicly available sources to which you have provided information, and we may combine or transfer such information with other personal information we maintain about you. We may also use third-party web analytics services on our Sites, such as Google Analytics, to assist us to analyze how visitors use the Sites.  The information obtained for this purpose (including your IP address and other information collected by automated means) will be disclosed to or collected directly by these service providers.  To opt out of Google Analytics, please click here.

How We Use the Information We COLLECT

We minimize the amount of data we collect and retain. Any information which we may collect will be used for a specific purpose.  For example, we may use the information described above to:

  • provide products and services to you;
  • respond to your inquiries;
  • send you promotional materials and newsletters;
  • create and manage your account (if applicable);
  • communicate with you about, and administer your participation in, programs, promotions, offers, or surveys, or advise of updates to the Privacy Policy, the Sites and of activities, events, and opportunities that may be of interest to you;
  • operate, evaluate and improve our events, activities, services or the Sites; and
  • comply with and enforce applicable legal requirements, our agreements and policies, including our Terms of Use.

We also may use the information in other ways for which we (or other third parties) provide specific notice at the time of collection.

Information We SHARE

We do not sell our information to third-party organizations, but we reserve the right to do so. We may share contact information with third-party service providers (e.g., payment processing and data storage and processing facilities) who perform services on our behalf based on our instructions. We do not authorize these service providers to use or disclose the information except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements.  Information may also be used to offer the services of third parties. In all such instances, we limit the personal information provided to these service providers to that which is reasonably necessary for them to perform their functions.

Additionally, we may disclose information about you (i) if we are required to do so by law or legal process, (ii) to law enforcement authorities or other government entities based on a lawful disclosure request, or (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent harm or financial loss, or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or illegal activity.  We reserve the right to transfer personal information we have about you in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a reorganization, spin-off, dissolution or liquidation).

YOUR RIGHTS TO YOUR DATA

You may at any time withdraw your consent and ask us to remove your information from databases by clicking on the “Contacting Us” section of this Privacy Policy, or by following the unsubscribe instructions included in each email.  To the extent provided by the law of your jurisdiction, you may request a copy of the personal information we maintain about you and request that we correct, amend, delete or block the information.

For your convenience, our Sites may contain links to other web sites, products, or services that we do not own or operate.  IFTA is not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties or the content of web sites linked to the Sites.  If you choose to visit or use any third-party products or services, please be aware that this Privacy Policy will not apply to your activities or any information you disclose while using third-party products or services or otherwise interacting with third-parties.

How we protect personal information

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use.  Please note, however, that no data security measures can be guaranteed to be completely effective.  Consequently, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any personal information or other information.  You transmit personal information to us at your own risk.

Children’s Privacy

Our Events and Sites are not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children without obtaining parental consent.

Data Retention

We will retain personal information for as long as needed to provide services to you, subject to any withdrawal of consent by you and our compliance with this Policy.  We may further retain and use this personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Updates to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy with or without notice to you to reflect changes about how we collect, use, disclose or remove personal information. Your continued participation in our Events or use of our Sites after such updates will be subject to the then-current policy.
