Alison Thompson

Thompson’s career in International Film Sales spans three decades during which she has consistently delivered films that have garnered commercial and critical success.  After short stints at The Rank Organisation and Channel Four Television, she joined The Sales Company at its inauguration where she rose through the ranks to become Chief Executive in 1996.

During her time there, The Sales Company collaborated on more than 100 titles with leading filmmakers including Bille August, Stephen Frears, John Huston, Neil Jordan, Ken Loach, Roger Michell, Nanni Moretti, Nicholas Roeg and Michael Winterbottom.  In 2000 Thompson headed to Pathé Pictures International and continued to work with many of the same filmmakers as well as Jane Campion, Gurinder Chadha, Kevin McDonald and Walter Salles. 
Prior to setting up CORNERSTONE, Thompson spent 8 years heading up Universal’s Focus Features International. Highlights of her career include BLUE JASMINE, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, BURN AFTER READING, CLOUD ATLAS, THE CONSTANT GARDENER, THE CRYING GAME, GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING, LAND AND FREEDOM, THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES, SCANDAL, THE SNAPPER, VOLVER and most recently, Mike Leigh’s acclaimed MR. TURNER and Asif Kapadia’s Academy Award-winning AMY.
